Corvette, the original sports car now offers the Z51 performance package.  This is the sixth generation in their line of performance packages and differs by not just being a suspension system but so much more.  Now it includes Goodyear Eagle F1 Supecar EMTs with a special asymmetrical tread pattern for better overall performance, especially in dry conditions.  Also it has larger and thicker brake rotors which are cross drilled.  Special performance gear ratios, tuned stabilizer bars, springs and shocks, special oil, transmission, and power steering coolers.  Because all that power is delivered to the wheels instead of body flex the 0-60 time is reduced to a mind boggling 4.1 seconds!

The Vette is all about performance so lets talk about the star of the show.  The all new 400 HP LS2 6.0 L V-8 engine.  This aluminum block powerplant is one of the world's largest stardard engines in Corvette history.  It produces 400HP @ 6000 rpms with 400 lb.-ft torque @ 4400 rpm.  It will reach test-track speeds of over 186 miles per hour.  Many people in the Southeastern part of the United States know the test track as I-400 around Atlanta.  Anything under 70 MPH will get you hurt around there!

All this power and it'll give you 18MPG city and 28MPG highway.  It's the only 400 HP engine in its class that does not incur a federal government gas guzzler penalty.   That-a way!  Just barely missing the cut-off for offical roadhog status.

When you're driving 186MPH you'll be glad to know you've got Xenon HID headlamps at your fingertips.  The low beams are xenon, high intensity discharge projector lamp coupled with tungsten-halogen high beams.  At 900 lumens of output, the units provide significantly more forward lighting power than the headlamps on the fifth-generation Covette which used a GE softwhite 60-watt bulb.

Good news for all you multi taskers!  The new Corvette doesn't use a regular key.  You get a key fob when placed in your pocket or purse will allow you automatic entrance to the car.  A touch panel behind the door will allow you to open the door without any other steps.  Now that you're inside, there's no need to fumble with your keys.  Just depress the clutch, or brake for wussy automatic versions, press the start button to the right of the steering wheel and you'll hear the Mach 5 roar to life!  Go Speed Racer Go!

Now top it off with the new DVD navigation system with Global Positioning Satellite (GPS).  It's displayed in the center of the instrument panel kinda like KITT (Knight Industry Three Thousand).  KITT was a Trans-Am but close enough.  There is of course a CD player located behind the navigation screen which is the long standing Bose audio system and is controlled through the touch screen.  The navigation system also includes a voice-activation mode so you can talk to your car when you're lonely.  Simply push talk, then say "I'm lonely."  The screen will display all know local brothels and bars in the area.  Thanks buddy!
