With its GM-exclusive Midgate, Avalanche is the only vehicle that can go from a six-passenger SUV to a full size pickup with seating for three and an eight-foot protected cargo box.  Lockable storage compartments are located on the side of the cargo box and provide up to 1.7 cu. ft. of room each.  These compartments are perfect for holding small camping gear or emergency equipment, and can even be filled with ice and used to hold your favorite beverages.  As an added benefit, small holes at the bottom of the compartments allow melting ice to drain.

In addition, Avalanche has two-tier loading capability, allowing you to transport cargo on both the top and bottom part of the eight-foot cargo box.  And with the Midgate® lowered, and both the rear window and cargo cover in place, these items are secure.  Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and distribution.

The Vortec 5300 V8 engine in Avalanche 1500 models has 295 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 335 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm.  The Big Block Vortec 8100 V8 engine in Avalanche 2500 delivers 320 horsepower at 4200 rpm and 440 lb.-ft of torque at 3200 rpm.  Wow.  That's a lot of power for someone just driving around the square!  Now get out there and pull a stump or somethin'.

Body hardware enhances the lower body side, including the front and rear bumpers, for a bold look that also helps protect against the rocks and sticks kicked up when you travel off road.  Avalanche is available with and without body hardware.
